It’s the end of an era as Andrew Lincoln leaves The Walking Dead

Rick's Last Stand

It’s eight years since sheriff’s deputy Rick Grimes opened his eyes from a coma to discover the hospital abandoned and something very, very wrong about his local community.

Since then, the former lawman, played by Andrew Lincoln, has managed to survive all manner of dangers in the drama’s terrifying zombie apocalypse – from the bloodthirsty walkers to a whole range of sadistic and psychotic human enemies.

This week, Rick finally bows out of the series, with Lincoln deciding to return to the UK and move on to new projects. ‘I have two young children, and I live in a different country,’ he says. ‘Children become less portable as they get older. It’s that simple. It’s time for me to come home.’

To mark the occasion, we take a look back at Rick’s 10 most memorable moments…
