Taapsee Pannu reflects on life, career and more during the lockdown
GLOBAL MOVIE MAGAZINE
|June 2020
Taapsee Pannu is one of the most versatile actresses in the industry. She tops that off with an interesting choice of scripts which is evident with her recent releases like Thappad or Saand Ki Aankh and Mulk. She had a twitter marathon with one of our journalists where she chatted about everything under the sun. Excerpts:
-
The cases of domestic violence have increased during this lockdown. How can a woman deal with such a personal disaster?
Every woman will have to find her own way towards fighting it. It is important that something should be done. Just keeping mum about is not the solution. One should be aware of what’s happening in your neighbourhood, what’s happening in your friend circle.
Two big films -- Gulabo Sitabo and Shakuntala Devi are releasing directly on the digital platform. Soon some more big films will also be shown on OTT platforms. Theatre owners are said to be angry with this decision of the producers...
I am not surprised that they are angry. But they should learn to turn with the wheel of time. Sometimes, you have to navigate between two extremes to achieve success.
Is the future of theatres in danger? Is this expected to change the star system as well?
I sincerely hope and believe that theatres in India will never be at risk. A lot of our films are made for the big screen and are made for collective viewing. But yes, if OTT platforms can come up with a ticketing system then there will be a definite change in the star system.
