What Not To Disclose About Your Love and Sex Life
Femina
|November 24, 2018
While it may be tempting to share intimate details of your love and sex life with your friends, there are some things that are seriously taboo! Neeti Jaychander tells you what not to disclose.

When you’re dating, it is natural that you’d want to tell your friends about the details that matter—how you spent your last date, what he cooked for you, where you’re planning your next holiday together, and so on. Or you may want to confide in them for new perspectives on dealing with tricky situations, which can, in turn, make you feel secure and confident about handling your relationship. However, there are some topics that should be strictly off-limits, no matter how close you are to your girl gang! Here’s the lowdown.
PERSONAL PROBLEMS AND INSECURITIES
This one is a complete breach of trust. Whatever they may be, whether childhood traumas that he wants to overcome or an addiction he’s trying to kick—don’t discuss it with your friends. Psychologist Manjula MK says, “Working your way through a personal problem is never easy. If you tell your friends, and they start judging him, it will only make things worse. And if, by chance, it comes up in a conversation, your friends might unwittingly tend to offer well-meaning but sometimes not-very sound advice. If you do need to talk, visit a counsellor or go to his parents, if you think it is something that they already know, or is okay for them to know.” These include his insecurities, things that embarrass him or cause him discomfort, and things that you know for sure he doesn’t want the outside world to know.

"UGH, I HATE HOW I LOOK!"
If the title to this feature is a sentence that goes off in your head every time you stand in front of the mirror, you need to keep reading. No, this is not your run-of-the-mill self-love spiel that will magically change your self-image by the end. It won't. And it definitely won't silence the voices that have told you to fix, hide, and erase parts of you deemed “too much” or “not enough”. What it will do is offer something rare: a reason, however small, to stop waging war with your reflection, and feel a little better about coming home to the person who's been there all along. You.
