Shraddha Kapoor 'I Take Things As They Come'
Femina
|June 01 2017
Sunny, spirited and simply adored by her millions of young fans, Shraddha Kapoor is bollywood’s latest sweetheart.

She walks in a little late for the cover shoot, apologising profusely and greeting everybody with an infectious cheer. Her smile lights up the room and the dull afternoon haze just lifts off. Shraddha Kapoor is the kind of girl who doesn’t stop— she’s energetic and so full of life that just watching her pose for the camera peps you up. After a shaky start in the industry, Kapoor has slowly gained ground with her performance in films like Haider, ABCD 2 and OK Jaanu. Some of those films carry her credit for playback singing too. Now, with two big films—Half Girlfriend and Haseena: The Queen Of Mumbai—releasing this year, Kapoor has a lot to talk about. Edited excerpts from the interview.
Was acting always the path for you?
Absolutely. Growing up surrounded by films and both my dad and maasi (mother’s sister, Padmini Kolhapure) being actors, I considered this the dream job. Acting seemed like the most natural thing to do.
Your first film Teen Patti wasn’t very successful. How do you deal with professional setbacks?
I think mulling over things that didn’t work doesn’t help. So, instead, I spend time with those closest to me, focus on having a good time, and don’t think about it for too long.

"UGH, I HATE HOW I LOOK!"
If the title to this feature is a sentence that goes off in your head every time you stand in front of the mirror, you need to keep reading. No, this is not your run-of-the-mill self-love spiel that will magically change your self-image by the end. It won't. And it definitely won't silence the voices that have told you to fix, hide, and erase parts of you deemed “too much” or “not enough”. What it will do is offer something rare: a reason, however small, to stop waging war with your reflection, and feel a little better about coming home to the person who's been there all along. You.
