Missing friends in lockdown

July 2020

These are not easy times for any of us at the moment and I very much hope that, as you read this, hotels will be opening and life will be starting to return to what we will now think of as our new normal.

Missing friends in lockdown

When I came to write this I was thinking about what was happening during lockdown and what I was missing. I am very lucky to be living on the edge of the moor and can get out and walk to the hotel on a daily basis, taking the long route via Fernworthy Reservoir and Scorhill if I am feeling particularly energetic.

What I miss most are friends and one person in particular, Will Guthrie. We worked together, for six years, at Buckland Manor. He is a proper chef, he loves to cook and he loves to eat. He has a great passion for food, always looking to refine his dishes. He also has a desire to use wonderful local ingredient but only when they are better than he can get elsewhere.
