Using the amazing technology of scuba, a highly trained diver descends into the ocean deep. At a depth of 33 feet (10 m), the “squeezing” force on our elite diver’s body is already double what it was at the surface. This compressing force keeps increasing. At 985 feet (300 m), the hull of a Navy submarine must be constructed from a solid steel plate, a couple of inches thick, to stand the strain. Yet there are creatures of the sea that can descend much farther than this with ease. Down to the deepest abyss.
