POLICE APPEAR TO BE NO CLOSER TO DISCOVERING WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MISSING TOT FROM WA

A whole nation has been on the lookout after Cleo Smith disappeared from a Western Australian camp site on October 16, but police have revealed they are still no closer to finding the little girl.

Despite over a week of searching the area where the 4-year-old vanished, the top detective investigating the case has admitted the hunt for Cleo “hasn’t led us anywhere” but they believe she was abducted. “So that, gathered with some of the evidence that we have gained from the tent and the surrounds there, has led us to believe that possibly someone else was involved in her disappearance,” Detective Superintendent Rod Wilde said during an update on October 18. “The team is working around the clock to investigate all of those leads.”

He added that there were still no suspects in the case, despite detectives confirming that “10-20” known sex offenders were in the area at the time Cleo vanished, but police were hopeful that would change. “There is a lot of information that has come in. So we are going through that methodically,” he continued.
