For almost four years, Amber Heard has been unrelenting in her accusations against ex-husband Johnny Depp, never wavering from her claims that he was a “monster” who emotionally and physically abused her during their marriage. Depp has consistently denied every abuse claim, stating, “I will continue to deny them for the rest of my life.”

But in recent weeks, new audio evidence of Heard admitting to hitting Depp has left many questioning who’s been telling the truth since the allegations were made public in 2016. Though the warring pair settled their divorce in 2017, Depp filed a $75 million defamation lawsuit in May 2019, alleging – again – that his former wife’s abuse claims about him were false and had cost him money and career opportunities.
