The GMA3 star invites Us into her Brooklyn home to talk cooking, family time and game-day recipes!

Sara Haines is an Iowa girl at heart, but as host of GMA3: Strahan, Sara and Keke, she’s made New York City her home. “Outdoor space is why we picked this apartment,” she says of the Brooklyn abode she and husband Max Shifrin have shared for four years. (The two are now parents to son Alec, 3, daughter Sandra, 23 months, and baby Caleb, 5 months.) “I loved it from the first moment I came in here, because I grew up in Iowa where you had yards and didn’t live on top of each other.”

Like most families, the Haines- Shifrin gang spend a lot of their quality time in the kitchen. “I’m new to cooking,” Haines, 42, admits. “My parents always cooked, so I said, ‘When I grow up I’m going to cook.’ I just never grew up! Then I decided that once we started having kids, it was imperative.” Adds Shifrin, 36, “Before that we were ordering out a lot, a lot of Seamless, a lot of Caviar.”
