FOR ages, the royals have followed a time-honored and tightly run schedule of holiday events. Christmas eve, they arrive at Queen Elizabeth II’s Sandringham country estate for 4 p.m. tea and gifts. Then, it’s a formal black-tie dinner followed by an early bedtime. On Christmas morning, everyone walks to church before returning home for another traditional meal and the monarch’s annual televised speech precisely at 3 p.m. “All the royals,” says an insider, “have to be on their best behavior.”
