'Will Sara Ali Khan Be The Begum Of Bollywood?

Bollywood’s debutantes continue to shake up things at the Box office and are paving the way for a whole new line-up of film sensations. But does the newest kid on the block Sara Ali Khan have the chops to reign above them all this year? Ahad Sanwari decides to look a little further into that.

All hail the new Bollywood royalty, the incoming kings and queens, dukes and duchesses, rajas and ranis. 2018 has become the year of the ‘star kid’. Ishaan Khatter cemented himself as a capable lead and potential star with Dhadak while Janhvi Kapoor slightly faltered (but, well…she’s pretty). Aayush Sharma buckled under the expectations of LoveYatri and gave an one-note performance in an one-note film with an one-note script, each note more jarring than the last. Rohan Mehra put up a relatively decent performance in Baazaar. But there’s one more to go.

One of those kids is from the Pataudi family, Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh’s daughter, Sara Ali Khan. Sara has been a fixture of the paparazzi for quite some time now and has become a popular figure on social media. But most of that popularity comes from her bagging two of the year’s most awaited films for her debut, Kedarnath and Simmba.

Of all the big debuts, Sara comes into the fray with a lot more riding on her than the others. Aur kyu na ho! She’s the daughter of iconic Bollywood actors Saif and Amrita, starring in a big banner production with an already established male lead and of all these newbies, she’s been creating the most buzz. In fact, rumours of her debut started circling the interweb as early as the beginning of 2017. Everyone’s been waiting a long time for her to finally hit that screen, and she’s now finally gone and done it!
