Nargis Fakhiri: 'Looks Wise, I Like Salman Khan'

Before the news of Nargis Fakhri’s vanishing act appeared, Pooja Sharma met the actress at a suburban hotel, in the midst of film Azhar’s promotions. Contrary to the speculations of a nervous breakdown owing to a failed relationship and rejection, the actress seemed completely normal; acting, bantering and gesticulating - she engages in all of it while she is being interviewed. She says the most unexpected things, laughs without fear, and is an independent spirit, difficult to pin down. Dressed in an orange top and a cutesy white skirt, the animated and effervescent actress sat down for a no-holds-barred conversation.

She had a launch that many only dream of. In an Imtiaz Ali helmed project, co-starring heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor in Rockstar, Nargis played a true-blue desi damsel.

A model-turned-actor of American origin, acting and lip-syncing dialogues in an alien language, she managed to leave an impact with her enchanting beauty, striking features and sincere effort. Though an out-and-out Ranbir Kapoor film, Nargis was inundated with responses and received interesting offers post her debut. Since then, there has been no looking back for the actress, who got to be a part of some big-budget projects. None were stupendous hits, but she played her parts with candour and conviction. In most, she essayed the character of charming arm-candy to the hero. In a few, she appeared in cameos or sizzling item numbers that became chartbusters. There was no dearth of offers.

In fact, the actress has had maximum projects this cinematic year, one of them even a lead role in a film. But much before the release of her projects, a sudden turn of events put the actress in the headlines. As per reports, she returned to her hometown in the US after being rejected by Uday Chopra, as the two intended to marry. The couple had never admitted or denied their relationship, but always maintained the ‘we are good friends’ stance. So when the actor refused to marry her, a dejected Nargis apparently suffered a nervous breakdown, amidst the promotions of both Azhar and Housefull 3, and moved back to the States.
