How did Raazi happen?

I got a call from Karan Johar and he told me Meghna Gulzar was making a film and she found me suitable for a part in the film. He said, ‘Why don’t you come to the office and meet her’. So, I went to the Dharma office and met Meghna. I have been a huge admirer of her film Talvar so I was delighted to have met her. She gave me a gist of the story and told met, ‘I want to take you for two scenes and then we will know how to go about it.’ So we did a screen test of sorts. I didn’t know that Alia was also going to be a part of it. She was very sweet to have joined in just to give me a cue. And the next day, I got a call. They said that you are our ‘Iqbal’, we are sending you the script. They asked me to read it. I read the script and was blown away, and I felt it would be an honour to be a part of the film.
