Is Taapsee Giving B-town Heroines Sleepless Nights?
STARDUST INDIA

There are a few who thumb their nose to nepotism in B-town. And it seems TAAPSEE PANNU has done exactly that. A Bollywood outsider, this heroine has mostly remained zara hatke, zara bachke from the crème de la crème of Bollywood. But over time, her choices of scripts and amazing roles on celluloid have helped her catapult to be a ‘go-to’ actor. Being a combo pack of pyaar, parivaar and vaar, Taapsee is definitely giving a lot of her contemporaries a run for their money. Let’s have a look how…

A quintessential Bollywood actor is someone who is expected to dance around the trees, behave like a damsel in distress and behave like her ultimate goal in life is to wait for a charming young man (read: prince) who’ll sweep her away. Well, that has indeed been the case of most of the scripts which have been made for the heroines of B-town. But move away from these stereotypical notions because cinema is evolving and so are the actors. And one such heroine who has slowly and steadily initiated a massive change in the way women in Hindi films are portrayed is Taapsee Pannu.
With not so great debut, Taapsee started on the backfoot in Chashme Baddoor. But after having a successful run down South, this Punjabi kudi came a full circle with the film Baby. Portraying the role of Shabana Khan, Taapsee kicked ass and how! Also, what made the audience and the critics notice her acting ability was her ease of sharing the screen space with the likes of well-established actors like Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher. Even though her role was pretty short as compared to her male counterparts, she managed to establish a place for herself and definitely, grab a lot of eyeballs. And thus started her journey from there.
