“I'm Just Very Real Because I Don't Know Any Other Way To Be.”

Your upcoming film Shakeela, is about a controversial star of the yesteryears, does it take a more sensitive look at her considering she’s so misunderstood?

Actually, I think that’s the motive of the film, to highlight her personal life and what she’s been through. This is just a context of what’s going on in her life. We talk about feminism and the female representation in cinema today. But for her to stand up to authority in the ‘90s and early 2000s, and even now with actresses from Kerala speaking up about the MeToo movement, you can imagine how much bravery and guts it took for her to speak up at that point of time. So that is the kind of film it is.

So do you think you embody her, because even you come across as very brave in front of the media?
