What fascinated you to bring the story of the Battle of Saragarhi to the big screen in Kesari? Hollywood made 300. Which is actually a fictitious story of 300 men facing 8,000 people. Here is a story which is a true one. 21 sardars facing 10,000 invaders. Now who will not get fascinated by a story which is so strong and real? And we have not even made one Hindi film on it. Not many people know about it. Even I only knew the fact that there were 21 sardars who fought against 10,000 invaders. That’s all. But then, as I went into it, I found so many things about it. It’s unbelievable that these people had the chance to run away and forget about their country. But they didn’t do it. They knew they were going to die. Imagine fighting a battle when you know you’re going to die. Itni badi film karne ka mauka mila hai, yeh main chod hi nahin sakta. It’s a very huge story and I plead to all parents to take their children and show them this film, what their ancestors have done for the country. And I’ve dedicated this film to all the martyrs of all the countries of the world who’ve given their lives to save their country.
You’ve managed to sustain yourself remarkably well over the years, how hard does it get to constantly keep reinventing yourself as an actor?
