ZAP PROSTATE CANCER WITH NEW TREATMENT

NEW hope for guys with prostate cancer is on the horizon as a promising procedure zaps deadly tumors without punishing side effects, experts say.

According to researchers at Chicago’s Rush University Medical Center, NanoKnife treatment could be a viable alternative for those with a life-threatening disease.

The NanoKnife system, which already has FDA approval for surgical ablation on soft tissue, uses targeted electricity to destroy cancer cells — a process known as irreversible electroporation — while leaving surrounding healthy tissue unharmed. Experts say the treatment may be suitable for patients with low- or intermediate-risk prostate cancer.
