LAW & Order: SVU” icon Chris Meloni has returned to the scene of the crime — and TV insiders said it couldn’t come at a better time for the flagging TV franchise!

After teaming with Mariska Hargitay to form TV’s top cop partnership for 12 seasons, the veteran actor will bring his character, Det. Elliot Stabler, to his own “Law & Order” series!

“Elliot Stabler was one of the most popular and beloved characters in the whole ‘Law & Order’ franchise,” said a longtime TV industry insider.
