COVID VACCINES: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

SCIENTISTS all over the world are scrambling to create a vaccine for the deadly COVID-19 virus, which has infected over 8.35 million Americans and caused 225,000 deaths!

Hospitals across the country are still straining to contain the flood of patients as doctors and frontline workers put in double and triple shifts to treat the sick.

But hope is on the horizon as drug trials by some 150 companies worldwide claim to be on the verge of a major breakthrough!

The U.S. has pledged $10 billion to rapidly develop and deliver 300 million doses of a vaccine — as soon as one is approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) — as part of “Operation Warp Speed.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is so confident in the project’s success it required all states to submit a proposal by Oct. 16 for how they would distribute the life-saving vaccine.

Massachusetts-based pharmaceutical company Moderna claims to have a potential jab ready for emergency use in December — depending on the outcome of a study involving current COVID-19 patients.

In addition, New York Citybased drug maker Pfizer is formulating a vaccine in cooperation with the German firm BioNTech — and plans to seek emergency FDA approval for a COVID-19 shot by the end of this month.

Also at the human-testing stage are researchers in China, the U.K. and Russia — which in August had claimed to develop the world’s first vaccine! However, scientists slammed Russia’s boast as premature and urged further testing.
