From Revitalising Festivals To Public Service - Princess Diya Kumari Of Jaipur
Hello! India
|October 2018
Has proved to be a dynamic force in the evolution of Jaipur's people, their rich craft and architectural legacies. Hello! Spotlights how her foundations activities have drawn interest from former us secretary of state Hillary Clinton, and got recognition by un women. And she is still in her first term as an MLA of the Sawai Madhopur constituency...!
An educationist at heart, humanitarian by soul and royal by blood, the daughter of Maharaja Sawai Bhawani Singh and Maharani Padmini Devi of Jaipur, has risen as not just a royal princess but a powerful philanthropic force in the regal state of Rajasthan, in her capacity as a BJP MLA and goodwill ambassador across major international humanitarian bodies. Just how does she do it? Wear so many varied hats and lead from the frontlines in a state till recently known for its highly patriarchal culture? HELLO! presents an update...
FROM CONSERVING A LEGACY TO A SUSTAINABLE EVOLUTION OF LIVES
After establishing her commitment to an age-old legacy, the day wasn’t far behind when she was asked to widen her sphere of positive intent and action towards the people of Jaipur. Today, responsible for her ancestral Sawai Madhopur constituency, Diya Kumari recalls how, before she had became an MLA, in the days when she was visiting villages as a princess, she was deeply disturbed at the conditions around rural Rajasthan. “Yes, I used to make these surprise visits when the opposition was in power, and at that time unfortunately, I had no political platform to create or implement change. But I saw that a lot of public institutions – be it schools, clinics or hospitals, or other public institutions, were in a very pathetic way. There was no electricity in so many villages, no water supply, no drinking water. Many public schools had no facilities whatsoever: No classrooms, sometimes no teachers, and in some cases, students were studying under a tree!”
