Off My Management Bookshelf During the Pandemic Days…

The pandemic brought some very interesting challenges in our personal lives and one of the few good points was the ‘me’ time! We got more time away from the melee of travel and meetings and there was a certain ‘settled’ and routine feature to our schedules. This also meant more time to read and get back to thinking. The three books I read and reread are in some way classics. I think ‘Thinking Fast and Slow’ is the finest management exposition written in the last twenty years. It is not a flip the page , potboiler – but a rigorous way that will help you reflect on your own management ethos and personal decision-making style. ‘Poor Economics’ is a necessary read because we don’t really think of inclusive growth and income divide, the way we should. We tend to forget that it is our moral duty and a business necessity to have a society that does not have too many divides and a wide chasm of prosperity ranges. ‘Quiet’ is a book that brings the introverts back to the fore, vehemently advocating the need for cautious communication, thinking, and analysing are more important than just putting your points vociferously across. Have fun reading and learning.

PATRIOTIC INDIA @ 2047: BUILDING CITIZENS OF UNSHAKEABLE CHARACTER

This requires a complete overhaul of the civic and value education system, starting at the earliest stages of schooling.
