Drug Addiction: The Biggest Concern Of Our Young Generation
UNIQUE TIMES
|November - December 2022
Everyone laughed a lot when actor Dileep in the movie Thillakam spoke English well after smoking the ganja that his brother-in-law Salim Kumar gave him.
However, the actual appearance of this intoxicant known as cannabis is not all that fascinating. Today, social media and other platforms are continuously reporting news about the horrible effects of this. Today’s youth are more likely to commit horrific crimes like theft, torture, and murder as a result of drug usage. What effects do these medications make on a person? How can they get someone hooked on it? Is it possible to get rid of this completely?
Let’s try to get the answers about all these.
What are Drugs?
Drugs are substances that alter a person’s mental or physical state. They may have an impact on a person’s senses, emotions, behaviour, and cognitive processes. This makes them unpredictable and dangerous, especially the younger generation.
How do Drugs Take Control of an Individual’s Body?
Drugs have both short-term and long-term effects. These effects can be physical and psychological and can include dependence. Someone who is on drugs may behave and think very differently. At the same time, the person will struggle to control his/her actions and thoughts.
When consuming drugs for the first time, a person does it without considering the potential negative effects on his health. He might believe that since he just uses drugs occasionally, there won’t be any issues. The more the drug is taken, the more the person develops a tolerance to its effects. This can lead to the need to take larger doses to get more intoxicated over time. Drug addiction can quickly start to have an impact on a person’s physical and mental health, negatively affecting their ability to function at work and in social situations.

PATRIOTIC INDIA @ 2047: BUILDING CITIZENS OF UNSHAKEABLE CHARACTER
To achieve a strong, self-respecting nation by 2047, the focus must shift from merely celebrating freedom to rigorously cultivating \"Freedom Keepers\"—citizens whose loyalty to the nation and its ethical framework (Dharma) supersedes personal gain.
