The traditional cockpit focused on providing limited driver information like vehicle health status and driving parameters. Today’s cockpit must at least offer seamless integration of smartphones to the cockpit to provide driver and passenger the connected experience. The paradigm shift in cockpit of the future is when the driver becomes a passenger. The future cockpit must guarantee that it is able to alert the driver to take back control of driving and at the same time entertain the driver during the autonomous driving mode. In this scenario, the user experience paves the way to technologies like integrated displays, touch display with active haptic feedback, 3D display, Augmented reality Headsup display, etc.
