India’s crude steel production stood at 9.362 million tons (mt) in June 2021, up 21.4 percent over June 2020 and 3.4 percent over May 2021, provisional steel ministry data showed.

With 82 percent share, the private sector (22.671 mt, up by 59.6 percent) led crude steel production compared to the 18 percent contribution of the PSUs.

Hot metal production stood at 6.227 mt in June 2021, up by 25.9 percent over June 2020 but was down by 1.6 percent from May 2021.

With 70 percent share, the private sector (13.19 mt, up by 42.7 percent) led hot metal production, compared to the 30 percent contribution of the PSUs.

Finished steel production stood at 8.752 mt in June 2021, up by 26.1 percent over June 2020 and by 3.1 percent over May 2021.
