2021 was a year of many firsts for the Tunisian tennis star, who became the first Arab to play and win the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in December 2021. In June, Jabeur became the first Arab woman to win a singles title at the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) in Birmingham. She also became the first Arab player to reach the Top 10 of the WTA singles ranking in October 2021, which she maintained as of January 3, 2022. Jabeur peaked at seventh place, a singles career-high for the Tunisian, on November 1, 2021, compared to 31st place at the start of last year. Jabeur is no stranger to setting records for Arab athletes on the international stage; she was the first Arab woman to win a junior slam a decade ago in 2011. The 27-year-old was listed on Forbes Middle East’s 30 Under 30 in 2021.
