Grant Pringle, product agronomist at Pannar Seed, says choosing the right cultivar is one of the most important decisions a farmer makes every year. That is why Pannar provides farmers with a variety of high-performing hybrid platforms to choose from.
Two hybrid series that are currently grabbing the attention of maize farmers in the east of South Africa are the ultra-early platform of PAN 3A-124 and the early platform of PAN 4A-128.
These two platforms complement each other very well in a package for dryland production in the eastern Highveld and KwaZulu-Natal. This is underpinned by the outstanding yields that producers have achieved with these two platforms under commercial conditions. This past season, average yields of over 10t/ha have been commonplace with these two platforms.
