Rekindling Industry Spirit
WITH THE NEW YEAR, there is much anticipation about what lies ahead for the industry and the economy. The big question is whether a new turnaround story would be scripted during the year. And what would be the challenges ahead?
In my view, there are about four to five key issues that would define our economy in the new year.
To begin with, the new year seems to be bringing some cheer to the Indian economy. I expect that after overcoming the disruptions owing to GST (goods and services tax) implementation and other policies, growth could cross 7.5 per cent during 2018. However, this cannot be done just on the basis of consumption; it will need strong action to bring back industry spirit and generate investor enthusiasm.
