This Silicon Valley intellectual property attorney is a legal force to be reckoned with.
THEY ARE KNOWN AS “PATENT TROLLS”—Individuals or shady businesses that purchase the patents of a struggling or failed tech company then sue large companies such as Google or Facebook, claiming patent infringement. One of the worst patent trolls, Erich Spangenberg, made millions by turning “idle patents into cash cows.” Attorney Jonathan Waldrop battles such trolls all the time.
Waldrop specializes in Affrmative Litigation and Recovery Intellectual Property Litigation. In short, he represents tech companies in disputes over trade secrets, patents, and other intellectual property (IP). The Birmingham, Alabama-raised Waldrop, a partner at Kasowitz Benson Torres & Friedman L.L.P., has been with the firm for over five years.
