Ford Fusion

Practical, great engine and dynamics, but weird styling ensured buyers stayed well away

THIS IS NOT A TREATISE ON FORD’S India operations and nor do I know what’s happening, or is in store, for Ford India. But, for the sake of us driving enthusiasts, I just hope the current state of affairs are a mere blip — because if there’s one thing Ford did right it was The Thrill of Driving. The Ikon, Figo, Fiesta, all the spin-offs on that platform, even the short-lived Mondeo, all were fun to drive. Heck, even today, the Endy is the nicest to drive in its segment. Ford were also pioneers — don’t forget the EcoSport gave birth to the compact-SUV segment — but before that segment was even conceived came this, the Fusion.
