In Conversation With Rahil Ansari, Head, Audi India, on the Company’s Plans for the Future
-

MW: Congratulations on the launch of the new RS5. The car is a true enthusiast's machine with a stunning sticker price. With the introduction of the new A5, S5 Sportback and the Cabriolet models, how has the response been till now and what strategy has been implemented to promote sales numbers?
RA: Audi Sport signifies the transition of Audi’s racetrack technology into production ready performance cars. Born on the track, built for the road – the all new Audi RS 5 Coupé is the gran turismo among the RS models from Audi Sport. The car’s V6 bi-turbo engine has been developed from the ground up and provides significantly more performance coupled with higher efficiency. The all new Audi RS5 Coupé combines the performance of a sportscar and the comfort of a sedan which makes it a desirable machine for our customers and enthusiasts who are smart yet adventurous and want to make an incomparable style statement.
I firmly believe that we have all the ingredients in place for a sustainable year. Our brand has entered into a pop culture in just ten years, we are amongst the top choices of luxury car buyers and we have an attractive product portfolio.
We have received over 500 bookings for the all new Audi Q5 model within a month from its launch in India. The increase in demand for the all new Audi Q5 has proved that the car is a leader in its segment and is poised to become the bestselling model in its class in India. The Audi Q5 has become a key volume driver for Audi in India and we are confident that the car will continue to be the first choice of customers who want to travel in style and sophistication.
We will be introducing technologically advanced products like the new Audi A8 this year too for our discerning customers who value innovation in technology and features, in addition to advanced powertrains.

HISTORY CHANNEL
When I'm around old motorcycles, I often find myself wondering what it must've been like to be born in an earlier time. Wondering, mind you, not wishing. I wonder what it was like when mankind invented the motorcycle. I wouldn't want to get anywhere near the first motorcycle, the Daimler Reitwagen (the word means 'riding car', stupidly enough), made by German inventors Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach in 1885. To quote Melissa Holbrook Pierson, 'The first motorcycle looks like an instrument of torture.' And something that might cause an explosion uncomfortably close to one's nether regions. Right after it's shaken loose every healed bone in one's body.
