The International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), a premier automotive research and development and testing agency functioning under the Government of India, inaugurated its new facilities at ICAT Centre-II with test track and administrative and auditorium block located at Sector M-11, IMT Manesar. The inauguration was done at the hands of Arvind Ganpat Sawant, Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, in the presence of Dinesh Tyagi, Director, ICAT. The event was also a prelude to the NuGen Mobility Summit to be held from November 27-29. It saw the participation of several government agencies, including the Bureau of Energy Efficiency and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The other participants included regional transport offices of State Governments. Speaking at the event, the Minister said that India should focus on the local requirements of the customer and industry while developing a policy framework for the country. He also emphasised that the solutions which are relevant for other countries may not be suitable in the Indian context on an as-is-where-is basis. “We should consider the Indian industry with its ancillary industry by embarking on new technological advancements,” he added.
