ONE OF THE MOST innovative and unusual tests that’s part of Diesel Power Challenge is our fuel-consumption run.
While many DPC trucks produce four-figure power and torque, diesel is still a surprisingly efficient fuel from a potential-energy standpoint. Ask anyone who tows a trailer with a gasoline V-8 if you want proof of diesel’s mpg supremacy. That’s why Diesel Power Challenge 2017 Presented by XDP featured a fuel-consumption/driveability segment.
After the photo session at Red Rocks Park, we had a quick lunch and made our way to ATS Diesel Performance in Arvada, Colorado, for the first competitive event: fuel consumption as measured by an emissions testing program on ATS’ chassis dyno.
