Yamaha MT07 Less Is More!

Back in 2015, when Yamaha released the MT range onto the market here is South Africa, I did what most of us do when a new bike is released, I went for the bigger bikes first, being the MT09 and MT10.

After all we are horsepower crazy is this country and more is more! None of this less is more kinda stuff.

I didn’t give the little MT07 a chance and dismissed it as nothing more than the little brother in the MT series. I couldn’t have been more wrong! When I collected the bike from Gareth Davidson at Yamaha SA head office, I asked him how it compares to the MT09 which I loved. “You’re going to prefer this” was his answer.

Now let me clarify one thing, I am a huge Triple and Vtwin fan, and have become accustomed to the torque characteristics of those type of engines. So to climb on to a parallel twin - I was sceptical. Generally my experience with parallel twins of the past was I found them dull and not terribly exciting.
