Moving South to Plettenberg Bay from the dazzling Lowveld during 2010 was a complete mind shift and change of lifestyle for my wife and I who have always been passionate nature lovers with a robust sense of Adventure.

The Great Trek

The Lowveld with all its natural beauty and long winding paved roads, a couple of great passes and limited but awesome dirt track riding, were in our minds the ultimate environment for exploring and discovering new encounters riding pillion on our 2002 BMW R1150R. We were sad to leave but with children completing their studies and ready to take on their own challenges in life, the “empty nest” syndrome and the opportunity to live at the sea, made the move more bearable. Little did we know that this would be an opportunity for new beginnings and a complete change in our way of life and future adventure prospects on our trusted bike

As soon as we were settled in our new business, we decided to start exploring the unknown on our R1150 with our maiden trip being from Plett over the Prince Alfred pass to Uniondale after stopping at Angies G-Spot for a cold one. The dirt track slightly wet after drizzling rain the previous 2 days and with standard road tyres, was quite an exhilarating experience and somehow I realized that this was the first trip of many more to follow. The tar road route back via the magnificent Outeniqua Pass to George and the Seven Passes dirt road to Knysna via Karatara and Rheenendal, really exited us and we couldn’t wait for the next trip as it became very evident that the Western Cape and Karoo had much more to offer
