BMW F900R Second Glance

BMW Motorrad India has launched two new middleweight motorcycles in India, the F 900 R and the F 900 XR.

New motorcycle launches are all well and good for a quick first impression but, generally, one gets little time to really appraise the machine under your bum, as the launches often take place on unfamiliar roads and past unfamiliar scenery so that it is all too easy for one’s attention to be distracted from the job in hand. Another - uncommon - problem is to have two or three different bikes to ride on the same launch so that impressions about each bike can get muddied.

Therefore, it is always a good idea to be given the bike to test at a later date and for a longer period and this is what happened this month when the BMW F900R was delivered to the Bike SA garage. Now, as we have featured this bike along with its siblings, the F900XR and the S1000XR after both the international and local launch, I’m not going to labor the point but I thought that a re-cap of impressions would be useful after riding one for a longer period.
