Renault has unveiled what seems like the country’s first mini MPV. It will be made in India as well. Rahul Ghosh got up close with the Triber and here is what he thinks

Renault in India has ritually launched rather unique and game changing vehicles in the past. The Duster SUV was a huge success and then there was the Kwid hatchback. Both these success stories were created on the basis of their rather unique approach to automotive design. Muscular lines, high ground clearance and features were best in class at launch. Now they are planning to recreate that magic with the Triber. The Triber is once again a unique offering. It is based on the same CMF-A platform on which the Kwid is made and from then on it has been worked upon to create a sub-four meter seven seater car. The Triber looks the part thanks to the chunky design lines also seen on the Kwid. The front end resembles the Kwid but this is where the similarities end. The Triber is 3,990mm long and boasts of a generous 2,636mm wheelbase. It also offers a good 182mm of ground clearance. In profile it looks much like a compact MPV but no one can take away the SUV like design ques all around. Overall the sculpted bonnet, front and rear SUV like skid plates, roof bars, and black plastic wheel arch protections and lower protective door panels give the Triber that rob
