Timken Plans to Refurbish Aircraft Bearings in India

Sanjay Koul, Chairman and Managing Director, Timken India, told Auto Components India that, “We do not manufacture products here in India but we make them globally. Majority of the products that Timken makes are connected to transmission and gear box bearings. Due to less volume in India we are not making any products but we make them in China for the engine applications that go into commercial aircraft. In the US we make the entire product range including helicopters. Landing gear bearing for Boeing is mostly done by Timken, so most of the time when the Boeing aircraft lands, it rolls with Timken bearings. Essentially we make all the bearings, which are required for aerospace engine for both commercial and defence. In transmission we are heavily in the helicopter applications.”
