Think Hot Rod Shows have had their day? Then you haven’t been to the Sydney Hot Rod and Custom Auto Expo! More particularly, you didn’t go to the 2019 staging of this amazing show. Promoters Andy and Donna Minas have been working away on this show for five years and it has now really hit its straps. Sure it took those five years to establish its own individual culture, but now it has that in spades and it certainly proved to be a mature, well balanced exhibition with something for everyone at the Rose Hill Racecourse over the weekend of May 25-26, 2019.

Five different sections made up the total show on this occasion, upstairs in the main building, downstairs in the same building, the betting ring undercover area where there were trade demonstrations and sponsor displays, the amazing Nostalgia Lane section with 100 cars in there alone and finally the outdoor preferred parking area on the northern side of the buildings. Add in drag car start ups, belt sander racing, air brushing and pinstriping demonstrations, plus a wide selection of interesting trade stands and you have the complete package. And didn’t the crowd love it! The first few of these shows suffered from poor public support, but not any more, they streamed through the doors all weekend and went away rewarded having experienced one of the best shows held in the Sydney area for many years. It’s been great to see this event grow and evolve into what it is.
