A Mining Town The Wild West Where Women Rule The Roost
Domus India
|August 2018
A mining village in the New Mexico desert provides the backdrop for seven episodes of Godless and is the largest Western film-set ever built
-

At the beginning, Frank Griffin massacres the people of Creede, Colorado. A formless pile of mutilated bodies is scattered on the ground.
A child hangs dead from a tree on a hill and a sole survivor sings a mournful hymn to Christ just before the title sequence.
This scene was filmed at Tom Ford’s ranch in Galisteo, Santa Fe, New Mexico. After betraying Frank Griffin’s brotherhood, Roy Goode seeks refuge at Alice Fletcher’s ranch located on the outskirts of La Belle, a remote mining town run solely by widows.
