Chipping Away to Glory

Inspired by the sculpting styles of French masters Auguste Moreau and Antoine Louis Barye, Delhi boy Kapil Kapoor has been busy carving a niche for himself in the art world.

As a small kid, Kapil was fascinated by the world of sculptures watching his great grandfather, Manohar Lal Kapoor, go about making replica of antiques, innovative murals and artifacts at their Aligarh foundry. As he grew up, frequent visits to the foundry with his father, Praveen Kapoor, used to be a delight. He would wait for his school vacations because that was the time he could spend more time dirtying his hands in clay in order to better understand the world of sculptures and the nuances and various finishes.
