Designed by Insitu by Kalakaarihaath, this Mumbai home creates a dialogue between old-school charm and contemporary elements

NESTLED within Mumbai’s suburban area is a contemporary dwelling with an underlying layer of a timeworn sanctuary. The 1,000sqft residential apartment for a young couple is helmed by Insitu by Kalakaarihaath. The project is deeply rooted in traditional forms—an intentional approach. The design intent was majorly functional.
“Much like any other home in the city, every space was crucially sculpted to optimise the storage and usability,” says Sahiba Madan, founder of Insitu by Kalakaarihaath. “Our scope had a lot to do with incorporating function as well as character to each space based on the client’s lifestyle and aesthetic,” she adds.
