Gove Gifted With A Brace Of Birds

Defra secretary Michael Gove said that enjoying game meat is just one of the many benefits created by sustainable shooting activities

Environment secretary Michael Gove has highlighted the benefits of game meat and praised the role of shooting after being presented with a brace of pheasants sourced from a BASC Young Shots day.

The presentation was made outside the Houses of Parliament by BASC food ambassador and top game chef Jose Souto and the association’s political affairs manager Sophie Hutchinson at the start of Great British Game Week last month.

Accepting the birds, Mr Gove said: “Great British Game Week is an opportunity to highlight and promote UK game meat, which continues to grow in popularity.
