United joint-master Jonathan Lee’s “eye-catching” Irish Sport Horse, whose scopiness knows no bounds and whose ears are always pricked

A FIELD master needs to trust their horse, and Jonathan Lee, joint-master of the United, has every faith in Boots.
“I was very lucky to get something as good as him,” he says.
Boots came from Paul Beecher of Loughnatousa in Co Waterford, Duhallow country, in 2012, aged nine.
“If there’s such a thing as a reliable dealer, Paul’s it!” laughs Jonathan.
An “eye-catching” Irish Sport Horse, Boots had done a bit of eventing and hunting, but his first job in England was at the Wynnstay.
“Richard Tyacke asked me to field master,” says Jonathan, “so I had to be well mounted. They’re a hard-riding field, you can’t lose them. They’ll stay with you, so you’ve got to be going!”
