“I’m Lesley Perrett, married to a lovely chap called Darren. I was brought up in a small village in Surrey and, until I was 11, enjoyed going to where my grandad worked on a small dairy farm. Those early years, haymaking, chicken feeding and going to see the cows, is where my love of the country began. When Darren and I married we moved to Petersfield in Hampshire, a lovely place, but living in a town was never where my heart was. In 2004 we sold our house and moved to North Devon and, after a couple of years, bought Brexworthy Farm in Bradworthy, a 15-acre smallholding with three holiday cottages. Darren started to work straight away, putting in a car park, refurbishing the cottages and submitting planning to convert the last stone barns into another two holiday lets.
