My Sunday at the Club Show

JON ASHBY completes his personal overview of the great weekend at the Dome

I DIDN’T buy a ticket for the Saturday night gala dinner, which I am reliably informed was a great evening, but instead found a lovely Nepalese restaurant a reasonable walk from the Dome where our little group ate and laughed our way through the meal. The food was great value for money, as was the drinks bill. (I do find drinks can be very expensive at the usual gala dinner venue.)

The Sunday of the show is usually better attended by visitors, and this year was no exception. It was brilliant seeing the show hall so packed. I caught up with the Cage & Aviary Birds contributors Fred Wright and Sam Wildes. Also present at the show were Cage & Aviary ’s Laura and Lynne, resplendent in their vivid yellow T-shirts. Sam Wildes was judging his first Club Show, having won trainee judge of the year a couple of years back. He looked as if he was really enjoying himself and was ice-cool.
