One person who made Weimaraner a household name in India had to be former skipper MS Dhoni. The cricketer, who’s known for his love for dogs, was visiting the Titan Industries bossman, late Xerxes Desai, in Bengaluru where he met and fell in love with Misty, a Weimaraner, or Weim, to be short. That’s what they say about the breed - one look into the captivating amber or blue-green eyes of the Weimaraner and you’ll be hooked. Moreover, it was originally bred to be a sportsperson’s companion, so Dhoni, one of the fittest cricketers around, suited the breed perfectly. Desai, of course, remembered Dhoni’s love for the breed and gifted him a pup from Misty’s litter. The captain called her Zoya. That was 2009.
