Without beating about the bush, the author tackles the important issues of illegal netting and fish as a food source. You may not agree with some of the things written here but the question remains, where do we stand in this regard? Upon turning the page, you will find proof that Tight Lines practises what it preaches when it comes to our credo, “WE CARE”. We have decided that enough is enough and have put our words into action. Furthermore, we especially care about our lady anglers who receive special attention in this issue. 9 August is National Women’s Day and celebrations on this special day emphasise the role of women in society as well as opportunities available to future generations to make a meaningful contribution to South African society. We pay homage to the fair sex who enjoy fishing and love the camaraderie and sportsmanship of angling just for fun or in competition, as well as those who actively promote this wonderful sport.
