Independence day. Who doesn’t love the 4th of July? Spending time with family and friends celebrating our hard fought, and won, independence by camping, cooking out, fireworks, and of course BURPEES.
Each day I celebrate my independence from the things in life that would normally hold me back by doing burpees in the morning. I don’t know how many I have done by now but it’s a lot. Every race I go to I see thousands of burpees being pounded out by racers from all walks of life and I can’t help but feel a sense of pride that these people have taken up the call to revolution against a soft and sedentary lifestyle. Some of them couldn’t walk a mile before and here they are, fighting like hell to make it through mile after mile and hard as hell obstacles just to be able to say they did it, they completed one of the hardest events of their life. No cheating, no going around the obstacle, facing each challenge head on and if they fail they Spartan Up, do their burpees, and press on with the fight. Now if that doesn’t embody the American Spirit I don’t know what does.
Hell America, I’m proud of you. Celebrate yourselves, you’re earning it
