Fabrik’s twenty-eighth issue greets Spring with photographer Lena Herzog’s splendid black and white studies of Dutch artist Theo Jansen’s Strandbeests, kinetic sculptures that derive their motion entirely from the presence of beach winds. The magazine once again concentrates its focus on Los Angeles' annual city-wide celebration of photography known as MOPLA (Month of Photography Los Angeles). The issue’s features include forthright reflections on time’s passage, with Douglas Kirkland’s quintessential images of storied icons and Sally Peterson’s ONE HUNDRED, a large-scale portrait series of tenacious centenarians. Henri van Noordenburg’s recent monochrome-blue landscapes present an intriguing narrative of fact and fiction open to interpretation at the 2nd Annual Photo Independent Art Fair.
