In its July issue, Semerkand Magazine meets its readers with the topic of the month titled “Whom Does Allah Love?”.
Penned by Abdulkadir Alioğlu ―renowned for his writings on religion and Qur’anic themes― the lead article explores the qualities of those whom Allah loves. Beginning with the link between faith and the believer, it continues by presenting the Qur’anic portrayals of Allah’s beloved servants and the traits that earn them divine esteem. The author conveys the good tidings Allah Almighty gives regarding God-fearing people, those who are patient, and those who sincerely repent from their sins.
This month’s editorial column “Lisanu’l Hal” quotes words of wisdom from luminaries such as Imam al-Ghazali, Imam al-Bayhaqi, Imam Sha’rani, and Fariduddin Attar.
In the column titled “Reflection From the Age of Bliss,” the magazine presents the story of the Companion Tufayl ibn Amr’s acceptance of Islam, the praiseworthy remarks of the Prophet about him, and the remarkable events he witnessed.
The article prepared by the magazine’s editors, “The Heart and Salah,” is compiled from Imam al-Ghazali’s Ihya Ulum al-Din, focusing on the connection between ritual prayer and the heart.
Highlighting the virtues of reciting Surah al-Fatiha, its hidden meanings, and the pivotal role it holds in a Muslim’s life, academician Dilaver Selvi authoritatively contributes the article “Doors Opened by al-Fatiha.”

Semerkand English Description:

Words spoken from the heart reach far beyond ornate expressions. They bypass the filter of the intellect and flow directly into other hearts. Guided by this truth, Semerkand Magazine strives to share with its readers the subtle beauties of Sufism and Islamic ethics—treasures that have breathed life into souls for centuries. For the heart listens to what is sincere, discerning it from all that is artificial and hollow.

In a world clouded by modern distractions, our intention is to rekindle that forgotten spiritual atmosphere through a language that flows from heart to heart. We do not seek to impress with grand rhetoric, but rather to strengthen the bonds between hearts with sincerity and grace—God willing, supported by the goodwill of our readers.
